Winter Break Farm Camp: Sprouts // Friday
Farm Camp seeks to inspire mindful food choices and environmental stewardship through exploring, working, cooking and eating together on an active farm.
In this drop-off day camp, “Sprouts” in kindergarten and 1st grade will discover new flavors and build their science skills while beginning to develop a connection to the natural world and to understand the role that farms play in their lives. Stone Barns educators guide kids in exploring new animals and plants, cooking activities, play and crafts. Campers will also help our farmers with seasonal chores that may include egg-collecting, sheep care, honeybee observations and composting.
Campers will participate in a morning and afternoon cooking activity to prepare and eat a snack based on what’s growing on the farm. Kids will harvest some component of each meal and take home recipes to be shared.
Please note that campers should bring a lunch and come dressed appropriately for the weather and outdoor activity.
